It’s almost 1:30 EST where I live and I’m feeling the absolute worst. Shakespeare doesn’t seem to be much of a comfort these days. This is bad.

Here I am thinking about someone who clearly doesn’t give two cents about me and I told myself not to invest myself too much in said person and well, here I am now. I’m feeling like I don’t belong anywhere.

I have a long post coming about my thoughts on my future in academia. Stay tuned, guys, gals, and nonbinary pals.

@The people who still reblog and/or like my old liveblogging posts:

Stop. I am a literal piece of Shakespeare fandom trash. I am e m b a r a s s i n g. The ghosts of my Shakespeare weeb behaviors shall not be tolerated.

Big Mood: Wearing all black, sipping Mountain Dew or iced coffee, listening to French pop/punk, and ghosting toxic people from my life.

(Also, please send in asks on why you like Shakespeare! I want to get to know your backstories on how you became a Shakespeep. Help a fellow Shakespeep become his confident self again!)

Smells Like Teen Poetry

A dear friend of mine (@redlips-sinkswifts) is going through memory lane with her poetry she wrote back in high school. She is a creative writing major, so her writings now are far better and superior now than they were then. Here’s a line from one of her cringiest poems she wrote when she was a junior in high school:

“The guilt will kill me, just like did Arthur Dimmesdale.”

Yes, that Arthur Dimmesdale from Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter.

Context: My friend was writing about her feelings for someone she fancied, and her liking them was very forbidden for her.

She realized how cringy her literary allusion was when she re-read her poem.

Then I said:

“At least you didn’t write an unfinished Hamlet fanfic where Hamlet goes on the Dr. Phil show!” (Which I should probably upload in its entirety because it’s bad fanfic writing and I promise you that I don’t write like that anymore.)

Moral of the story: You will get better at writing. Just don’t put really obvious literary allusions in your work and you’ll be okay. Unless you are doing it for satirical reasons, then I say go for it!

After a couple of years debating this internally, I can say now that I am demiromantic, romantic orientation wise (my sexual and romantic orientations differ from one another). I am so happy because for a long time, I felt like I was “broken” for not falling for someone romantically in a short period of time. I thought that I just needed to not be so “picky.” While I validated other demiromantic folks, I didn’t validate myself. I always told myself that I would “snap out of it.”

Not anymore.

My romantic orientation is demiromantic. And I feel liberated to admit this.

The 2017-2018 Academic University Year: Complete! 5.9.18

Hello Shakespeeps!

It is with great enthusiasm that I will be on Tumblr a heck of a lot more this summer due to being on summer break!

It’s been a year of academic and personal growth. This semester, I got onto the Dean’s List once more, which I am truly humbled about. With all of my course grades from my most recent semester offically recorded, I can officially say that with all of my credit hours earned, I am officially a senior and I am on track to graduate next year! So exciting!

Next semester, I am going to do my thesis in order to get my English degree. I am excited to embark on such a semester long journey!

I want to wish a special thank you to all of my followers who have supported this blog. Your devotion and passion for a subject that isn’t regarded as fandom in many cases is quite remarkable. (To the nay-sayers: Shakespeare and his contemporaries’ works are fandoms; sorry, I don’t make the rules.) All of the memes and text posts, among others, that we create and reblog brings a fandom together. Also, all of the asks and PM’s we message one another brings fandom closer together too, along with other Tumblr activities.

With that being said, congratulations on getting through another year, my university pals. Congratulations on your graduations. I hope you all are successful in your fields. Those who aren’t in university: I hope that life is treating you kindly, and if it isn’t, there’s a whole lot of people rooting for you. Don’t hesitate to PM me if you need encouraging words and someone to talk to. (Also, don’t hesitate to PM or send me asks about anything Shakespeare related either!)

From one Shakespeep to another,

My Very First Hamlet Fanfiction Up And Running!:

Hey all!

As promised, the fanfiction I promised to write that has Claudius and Polonius as soccer moms/suburban women is finally published!

Claudette = Claudius and Pauline = Polonius are the center of the story in this retelling of Hamlet. It’s reminiscent of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, with a heap of Desperate Housewives, and pure satire.

I hope you enjoy it and tell me what you think!
